Our Democracy’s Future We can’t be championing Democracy around the world while at the same time maneuvering ways to prevent Americans from voting. How unAmerican can it be preventing Americans from voting or hinting to refuse the results of an American election. Democracy is not the name – it’s the practice. We can’t preach democracy and practice authoritarianism. We can’t enjoy the benefits of being a democracy by nursing or nurturing authoritarian inclinations. It’s either we are democratic or not. We can’t be democratic and something else – else we are neither democratic or that something else.
