Why get into politics if serving the people and attending to their needs is not your cherishment? What is the altruism of service or sacrifice or patriotism in being a politician when you can’t make a deal, sit on the table, compromise, find consensus, bridge the divide or break the ice? Some politicians give politics the wrong image. When its all about you, then its all about nothing. As a politician, you win when the people win, not when a particular interest wins. As a politician, the people call upon thee by the truce or oaths of their votes (for you) to serve the people before God in the name of country. If you think you’re not bigger than self or larger than life, then don’t be The People’s Politician (TPP) – be something else. As a politician, doing the right thing is the prescription of your voted job description. You don’t need to be bribed or begged upon or pressured to do the right thing. You don’t need the world to bow to you in order for you to do the right thing. If you can’t serve the people as your duely elected and accepted obligation, let others do.
