Is There Something More to Love than Sex?
Are things really important in their naturality to life as it’s often said? Can human life really exist with less without some of its necessary essentials as it’s often spoken of? Take Sex for example. Away from its reproduction dependence for the continuation of species, isn’t it true that humans can live without sex, by obtaining the dopamine or endorphin pleasures and its health or psychological benefits from other Positive meaningfulness of affectionate love? Do humans sex to live or live to sex? Must humans have sex, or they don’t need to, but for the sake of species continuation? If the fear of species continuation is not an individual’s priority, knowing that others will continue the reproduction of species in the absence of others, then isn’t it true that the importance of sex is sometimes exaggerated? Granting for its mental or health importance that it’s spoken of, isn’t it true that successful, balanced, healthy, or positive contributory humans can live without sex? Humans need air, water and food and shelter for its survival more than sex can offer. But if life is reduced to its basicality, won’t life be unexciting, unentertaining or unpleasurable? So becomes the thing that, that which is the fountain of life itself is not just the basic necessities of its survival but the pleasurable and Interesting Things of Life (ITL). The subjectivity of Beauty, Satisfaction, and Happiness (BSH) and the difference in philosophical projections, perceptions, and perspectives can help the human being navigate a Positive Nonsexual Life or help the human being in achieving its goals or benchmarks of life. Is sex the thing that powers success, achievements, struggles, milestones, endeavors, or ambitions? How to balance sex life and purpose is of subjective relevance. Isn’t the beauty of life is its AEO – Authentic Esthetic Ostentatiousness – living life large in the spirit of mindfulness?

- Necessity for Survival: Humans do not need sex to live as individuals. They can lead healthy, balanced, and successful lives without engaging in sexual activity.
- Necessity for Species Continuation: Sex is a biological imperative for the continuation of the human species, a function separate from an individual’s personal survival or happiness.
- Quality of Life: The “pleasurable and Interesting Things of Life (ITL)” are what often provide meaning and enjoyment beyond mere survival. These can include relationships, creativity, purpose, success, and personal fulfillment.
- Alternative Pleasures: Affection, love, physical activity, creative pursuits, achievements, and meaningful social connections can all provide psychological benefits and feelings of pleasure and satisfaction comparable to those derived from sex.
- Exaggeration of Importance: The subjective nature of “Beauty, Satisfaction, and Happiness (BSH)” means that what one person finds essential for a fulfilling life, another may not. The importance of sex can indeed be exaggerated if viewed as a universal prerequisite for a happy life. Many successful, healthy, and high-functioning individuals choose celibate or asexual lives and find fulfillment through other avenues.
- Naturality vs. Necessity: Many “natural” things (like sex) are not essential for an individual’s survival, unlike basic physiological needs.
- Individual Autonomy: Humans can absolutely live without sex if the continuation of the species is not their individual priority.
The Beauty of Life (AEO): The “Authentic Esthetic Ostentatiousness” of life—living fully and mindfully—is found in a wide variety of experiences, not solely through sexual engagement. Life’s richness stems from diverse sources of meaning, love, achievement, and pleasure.
