Facebook is a private business in a public space and shouldn’t be experted to be the moral socio-cultural police or conduct enforcer. Are there internal issues the company can fix? Yes. Can the company do more? Yes. Does Facebook obligate citizens and internationals to be part of its platform? No. Is Facebook a manifestation of society or vice versa? You be the judge? Should we run this American company out of business? No. Can we the people self reflect before casting all blames of the hate, racism, sexism, bigotry, divisiveness, conspiracies, disinformation or misinfornation on Facebook? Yes. Is Facebook a reflection of society and the systemic and structural deficiencies of society? You be the judge. Is Facebook a free speech platform? Yes. Are those posting on Facebook have the freewill to not post, not click, not share, not follow, or not subscribe? Yes. Society needs to do better for the platforms in which they use to be better. Facebook doesn’t exist in a vacumm. Facebook is not a government but a private stakeholder. If the government wants citizens to be responsible, patriotic, dignified, respectful, and responsible, its not Facebook’s job alone – but the responsibility of governments, systems, orgaizations, or societies.
